Hi Matt,
I caught this 9 lb 5 oz. bass Friday afternoon (March 10, 2006) on one of your hammer jigs that you made for me last fall. Man, what a thrill it was. She made five runs and jumped four times. It was all I could do to keep her out of the brush. I tried to keep her down, but she wanted to fly. I have never seen a bigger bass caught in all my life. It just looked fake when I lipped her and brought her in the boat. While I held her for the first time I could not even move. I think I was in shock. I have caught 6 to 7 pound bass before, but every one of them pales in comparison to this fish. I think it very easily could eat a 10 inch crappie or a 12 inch bass. I caught it Friday afternoon. I caught several bass that day and all came on the same bait. I hung it in the trees a few times and you can imagine the care that I took to retrieve the lure. It is the only one that I have from you. That is the bait that you made free for me to thank me for bringing you some club member business last fall when we met you at Bass Pro Shops. So, thank you for the fishing experience of a lifetime. I went back out Sunday afternoon and caught three bass over 5 pounds, the biggest was a 6-4, all came on the same lure. So, if anyone questions how durable your jigs are, I can tell you the truth, over 7 hours of fishing counting Friday and Sunday, the five largest bass totaled 32 pounds. It looks a little scratched from teeth marks, but that is all. I think I caught 20 bass on that one jig.
